DELTA: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Thursday, officially presented the Staff of Office to the new Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Professor Epiphany Azinge (SAN), during a grand ceremony at Ogwa-Uku Ahaba.

Speaking at the event, Governor Oborevwori emphasized his administration's commitment to making Delta State a preferred destination for investors. He called on communities and traditional institutions to work together to ensure peace and security across the state.

“One of the goals of this administration is to make Delta State the preferred investors’ destination. To achieve this, all hands must be on deck to ensure our communities and urban centres remain safe and secure for both domestic and foreign investors,” he said.

The governor congratulated the Asagba on his ascension to the throne and highlighted the significance of Asaba as a growing cosmopolitan city.

He said, “Asaba has become the city of choice for many who find it a safe place to raise their families. However, we must remain vigilant against any security threats that could destabilize the kingdom or the state capital,” he stated.

Oborevwori praised the new monarch as a dynamic leader and consensus builder who possesses the qualities needed to steer Asaba toward greater development and peaceful coexistence.

"I am confident that under his leadership, the kingdom of Asaba will attain new heights in community development, harmony, and enhanced relations with the government,” the governor added.

He also urged traditional rulers across the state to collaborate with the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council to address emerging security challenges. “Traditional rulers are custodians of our customs and intermediaries between the government and the grassroots. Their role is critical in fostering peace and implementing government initiatives,” he noted.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government, Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili, congratulated the Asagba on his selection and urged him to continue being a father figure to all his subjects.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the Asaba Kingdom, with stakeholders pledging their support for the new monarch’s reign.
