As the Vice President. His Excellency Kashim Shettima
officially declared the 22nd National Sports Festival Open in Abeokuta,the Ogun
state capital,the Executive chairman Edo state Sports Commission Hon Amadin
Desmond Enabulele has urged the Federal Government and states to invest more in
the development of sports in the country.
The Edo state sports Commission boss said that money
and other resources invested in the development of the youth of the nation is
never a waste, insisting that sports remained a part of the pillars that hold
the unity of the country.
Hon Enabulele who was speaking with journalists during
the colourful ceremony which held at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in
Abeokuta, Ogun State, commended the organizers of the Ogun Games and the
federal government for sustaining the national sports fiesta which is a fulcrum
upon which the unity of Nigeria stands.
He. maintained that the national sports festival is
not only about celebration of sports excellence but also the celebration of the
existence of Nigeria as a big nation and it’s unity in diversity.
” We are happy to be here and to be a part of the
celebration of our dear country and sports. I could feel the strong spirit that
goes with sports; the enthusiasm and friendship going with it. It goes to show
that whatever resources invested in sports in this country is never a waste. I
urge the government at all levels to consciously invest more in sports because
it plays a pivotal role in shaping the lives of our children and the society.”
” I will always be grateful to our Governor senator
Monday Okpebholo for making it possible for us to participate in this Ogun
Games. We will reciprocate his gesture with spectacular performance. Our
athletes are in Ogun Games to express themselves and show what we have. We are
here to compete clean.” He said.
Meanwhile,team Edo was the center of attraction during
the march past, preceding the vice president’s address and declaration as they
filed out in a spectacular faction, proudly sporting their traditional
attractive red and white tracksuits to add colours to the ceremony.

Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele led the large team of the heartbeat state in the
exercise
with all members of his board, the Permanent Secretary
of the Commission and chairmen of the various sport associations of the state
who graced the occasion.
The 22nd National Sports Festival is uniquely
spectacular, with the innovative inclusion of Invited Junior Athletes (IJA) in
addition to the traditional 36 states and the FCT participating.
