Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested
Adeshola Muyiwa ‘M’, 23, for allegedly carrying out serial fake bank transfer
fraud in the Agbado axis and surrounding communities.
The arrest was made on May 17 at about 11:45am
following a report that the suspect visited a food vendor at Owolanwa Junction,
Agbado, at about 8:00am. After purchasing food items worth N2,600, he
reportedly presented a fake transfer alert as proof of payment.
According to the police, prompt response by operatives
of the Agbado Division led to the swift arrest of the suspect.
Confirming the development to newsmen, DSP Oluseyi
Babaseyi, the Command spokesperson, said preliminary investigations revealed
that Muyiwa had been using a consistent pattern of fake and scheduled transfer
scams across Agbado and neighboring areas, targeting unsuspecting members of
the public.
He added that during interrogation, the suspect
allegedly confessed to engaging in the fraud over a period of time, with
proceeds estimated at about N10,000,000.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP
Bode Ojajuni, commended the professionalism and effectiveness of the Agbado
Division officers led by CSP Adesanya Oyekanmi for their quick action.
Police have also urged the public to stay vigilant and
