The Ondo State Police Command has arrested multiple
suspects following a violent attack during the All Progressives Congress (APC)
ward Congress in Idanre on February 18, which left two people dead and three
others injured, with several properties destroyed.
Spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh stated that operatives of
the Idanre Division, acting on credible intelligence, carried out coordinated
operations at strategic locations. The arrested suspects include Adewusi Dele,
Akinkurole Victor, Abbas Michael, Jolojolo Ifedayo, Olamilekan Emmanuel, Sunday
Michael, and Monday. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects have provided
useful statements aiding the probe.
Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal reiterated the
command’s determination to bring all perpetrators to justice, urging residents
of Idanre and the wider state to remain calm, law-abiding, and provide timely
information to support security efforts.
In a separate incident, kidnappers abducted a couple,
Mr. and Mrs. Jamiu Olawale, in Ilu-Abo on Friday. The couple was attacked
outside their home shortly after returning from their shop. During the assault,
one neighbour, Patrick Ilumaro, was also shot and is receiving treatment at a
hospital. Police are actively working to rescue the abducted couple and
apprehend the attackers.
