investigation into a violent clash between farmers and herders in Zaki Local
Government Area, which resulted in the death of one person and the arrest
of five suspects.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command’s
Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, said the incident occurred on
November 26, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m. after herders from
neighbouring Jigawa State allegedly trespassed onto farmlands in the
area and destroyed crops.
“This regrettable act precipitated a confrontation
between the herders and community members, during which one herder was killed,”

Police Respond, Arrest Five
Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police
Officer of Zaki Division, SP Iliya Dogo, deployed a team of detectives
to the scene. Five suspects were subsequently arrested.
A preliminary investigation is underway to determine
the cause, sequence of events, and those responsible for the attack.
Wakil said the Commissioner of Police, CP
Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered that the case be transferred to the Deputy
Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for
a thorough and professional investigation.
Assurance of Calm, Warning Against
Vigilantism
The Police Commissioner assured residents that the
Command is committed to preventing further escalation and ensuring that justice
is served in the matter. He urged members of the public to remain calm,
maintain peace, obey the law, and avoid any form of vigilante retaliation.
The affected community has reportedly returned to
normalcy, with officers maintaining strict surveillance to prevent reprisal
attacks.
“All suspects in custody will be profiled and charged
before the court with the relevant offences,”
