Top opposition figures on Thursday gathered in Abuja for a high-level press briefing themed “Urgent Call to Save Nigeria’s Democracy.”

The event, holding at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, has drawn prominent political leaders across party lines, signaling renewed collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Among those present are key figures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Also in attendance are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi.

The National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ahmed Ajuji, is also present, alongside other prominent party members, including Buba Galadima.

The gathering underscores intensifying political consultations among opposition leaders amid growing debates about Nigeria’s democratic direction and governance ahead of the next election cycle.
