Victor Osimhen could be set for an
earlier-than-expected return from injury, according to Okan Buruk, offering a
major boost to Galatasaray as the season enters a decisive phase.
The Nigerian striker has been sidelined after
sustaining an arm injury during a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool
last month, which required surgical treatment. Initial projections suggested he
would only return in time for the highly anticipated derby against Fenerbahçe
scheduled for April 26.
However, Buruk has revealed that Osimhen’s recovery is
progressing ahead of schedule. The forward has already resumed light training
activities, including running drills under the supervision of medical staff,
indicating positive progress in his rehabilitation.
While the upcoming league fixture against Kocaelispor
is expected to come too soon for his return, there is growing optimism that he
could feature in the squad for the following match against Gençlerbirli?i.
Nevertheless, the coaching staff may choose to manage his comeback carefully to
ensure he is fully fit for the crucial derby clash.
Osimhen’s potential return comes at a critical time
for Galatasaray, who are currently leading the Turkish Süper Lig standings
after a recent 3–1 victory over Göztepe. With only a few games remaining, the
presence of their top scorer—who has already recorded 12 league goals this
season—could play a key role in their title ambitions.
The club will now balance urgency with caution as they
look to reintegrate the striker without risking further setbacks during the
final stretch of the campaign.
