Suspected phone snatchers have killed an unidentified middle-aged man during an attack at Kawo Bridge in Kaduna State.

The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, when the victim was reportedly trying to board a commercial tricycle in the area.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers approached the man and demanded his mobile phone. While attempting to comply, one of the suspects allegedly stabbed him in the chest.

According to a witness, the situation escalated suddenly as the victim tried to hand over his phone, leading to the fatal assault. The attackers fled immediately, leaving the victim critically injured.

Passersby rushed to assist but were unable to apprehend the suspects, who escaped the scene.

A resident, Bashir Umar, described Kawo Bridge as a frequent hotspot for criminal activity and called on security agencies to strengthen surveillance and patrol operations in the area.

He noted that similar incidents have occurred in the past, including the killing of a naval officer in the same location after a robbery attempt.

Traders and commuters around the area also expressed concern over the rising insecurity, urging authorities to deploy more security personnel and install surveillance systems to curb criminal activities.
