Suspected phone snatchers have killed an unidentified
middle-aged man during an attack at Kawo Bridge in Kaduna State.
The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on Saturday,
March 28, when the victim was reportedly trying to board a commercial tricycle
in the area.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers
approached the man and demanded his mobile phone. While attempting to comply,
one of the suspects allegedly stabbed him in the chest.
According to a witness, the situation escalated
suddenly as the victim tried to hand over his phone, leading to the fatal
assault. The attackers fled immediately, leaving the victim critically injured.
Passersby rushed to assist but were unable to
apprehend the suspects, who escaped the scene.
A resident, Bashir Umar, described Kawo Bridge as a
frequent hotspot for criminal activity and called on security agencies to
strengthen surveillance and patrol operations in the area.
He noted that similar incidents have occurred in the
past, including the killing of a naval officer in the same location after a
robbery attempt.
Traders and commuters around the area also expressed
concern over the rising insecurity, urging authorities to deploy more security
personnel and install surveillance systems to curb criminal activities.
