On Wednesday morning, users of PiggyVest, Nigeria’s
prominent digital savings and investment platform, encountered difficulties
accessing their accounts. The app displayed persistent "network
error" messages, leaving many unable to perform transactions for several
hours.
One long-time user, @ese_osa__, shared their
experience
“I was not able to access the app during the downtime.
It kept saying ‘network error’ for a few hours.”
The disruption affected users who rely on the platform
for timely financial transactions.
In response to the outage, PiggyVest issued a
statement
“Hello, we experienced a brief downtime earlier this
morning. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered
while accessing the app. The issue has now been fully resolved, and you can log
in successfully. Thank you for your patience.”
Despite the inconvenience, some users maintained their
trust in the platform. @ese_osa__ added
“I have been using PiggyVest for over five years now,
and I have not had any issues regarding my funds. Issues like this don’t make
me anxious or lose interest in them.”
However, this incident is not isolated. In September
2019, PiggyVest experienced similar network glitches that prevented users from
accessing the platform. At the time, the company attributed the problem to
issues affecting specific network providers and advised users to try different
networks.
Some users have also shared more severe experiences. A
Nairaland user recounted a frustrating ordeal involving a failed withdrawal of
?70,600, which led to a series of complications and unhelpful responses from
customer service. The user concluded:
“This entire experience has left me feeling betrayed
and cheated. I trusted PiggyVest with my hard-earned money, only to be met with
obstacles and indifference when I needed both my money and their assistance.”
Despite these challenges, many users continue to
support the fintech entity, appreciating its role in promoting savings and
financial discipline. As @ese_osa__ noted:
“I feel like PiggyVest is better because when I send
an email or reach out on social media, I get a response that my issue will be
resolved soon.”
PiggyVest assures users that their funds remain secure
and encourages anyone experiencing issues to contact their support team for
assistance.
