Mauricio
Pochettino was pleased with Chelsea's performance against Aston Villa despite
being forced to a replay after a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.
The hosts
created several chances to win the FA Cup fourth round tie but were denied by
an impressive display from Villa stopper Emi Martinez.
And the
Blues boss suggested his team's efforts proved they are heading in the right
direction.
Pochettino
said: "I think it was a very good game.
"I
think we dominated more of the beginning. Then after 70 minutes we started to
drop our energy.
"I am
so happy with the performance of the whole team. I think it was good but we
just weren't clinical enough.
"I
think it's a very good signal that we are improving. Of course we wanted to win
but we created chances.
"We
need to keep believing and now we move on."
Pochettino
also paid tribute to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who has announced he will
depart Anfield at the end of the season.
The
51-year-old has come up against Klopp while in charge of both Tottenham and
Chelsea and admits he will miss having the German as a rival.
He said:
"Today I was working and received the news. It is really sad. I was in
shock.
"When I
was sacked from Tottenham, the first message I received was from him.
"The
job he has done with Liverpool is amazing.
"He
wishes to rest and go away for a little bit. I think he deserves it but it is
sad for people who love football.
"He is
a great character. Liverpool and English football will miss him. His legacy is
massive."
