The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested several suspects in connection with arms trafficking, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms across different parts of the state.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, the Command said a 28-year-old man, Murtala Usman, was apprehended at Kidandan in Giwa Local Government Area for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to bandits.

According to the police, the suspect was arrested while attempting to deliver a brand-new AK-47 rifle and 200 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition to a bandits’ camp.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to transporting AK-47 rifles to bandits for the past four months, having delivered four rifles to the Kidandan area,” the statement read.

In a related development, police operatives in the Kafanchan Area Command arrested another 28-year-old suspect, Usman Shuaibu, who was allegedly caught with an AK-47 rifle after attempting to rob workers at a bakery.

The police said the suspect engaged operatives in a gun battle before being subdued.
Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle with four live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition — reportedly snatched from Inspector Ibrahim Nawa during a 2019 bandit attack at Kafanchan General Hospital — and 43 rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition.

The Command also recovered 11 stolen cattle in Kudan LGA through joint efforts with community vigilantes.

Similarly, police operatives from Dan Magaji Division in Zaria arrested six armed robbery suspects following a shootout.
The suspects — identified as Sadiq Idris (21), Usman Aminu (21), Abdulaziz Usman (25), Jibrin Yahaya, Hajara Abdulkarim (20), and Fatima Alhassan (18) — were found in possession of an English pistol, pump-action gun, and several live rounds of ammunition.

In another operation, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested Yakubu Adamu of Izzam Village, Igabi LGA, for unlawful possession of a fabricated AK-47 rifle.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabi’u Muhammad, commended the officers for their professionalism and urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence to help curb criminal activities across the state.
