The Niger State Police Command has arrested a
suspected cultist in Bida, recovering a pistol and military-style items during
the operation.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Wasiu
Abiodun, the suspect was intercepted after attempting to evade a temporary
police checkpoint. Officers reportedly became suspicious when he abandoned his
motorcycle and fled upon sighting them.
The suspect, identified as Agada Isaac, also known as
“Tee-light,” was eventually apprehended by police operatives. A search
conducted at the scene led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol, while a
follow-up search at his residence uncovered military camouflage items,
including a cap, knicker, and jacket.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed
to being a member of the Vikings cult group. He also claimed that he purchased
the firearm for ?300,000 from an individual identified as Gideon, also known as
“Starboy,” who is said to reside in Suleja.
The suspect further stated that he works as a campus
photographer and that the military gear was given to him by a friend.
Police authorities confirmed that investigations are
ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend the alleged supplier and other
possible accomplices linked to the case.
