The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a
suspected drug dealer accused of supplying illicit substances to armed bandits
operating in Funtua Local Government Area and nearby communities.
The suspect, identified as Sunday Eze, popularly known
as "Dunbuje," was apprehended by operatives of the Central Police
Station in Funtua following an intelligence-led operation.
According to the command's spokesperson, DSP Abubakar
Sadiq Aliyu, the arrest was made at about 5:00 p.m. on July 15 after officers
acted on credible intelligence and tracked the suspect.
A search conducted during the operation reportedly led
to the recovery of 500 tablets of D5, an illegal substance believed to have
been intended for distribution to criminal elements.
Police said preliminary investigations suggest that
the suspect was involved in supplying the drugs to suspected armed bandits and
other criminal groups operating in Funtua and surrounding areas, allegedly
aiding their activities.
Aliyu disclosed that the suspect remains in police
custody as investigators work to uncover the full extent of the distribution
network, identify the source of the illicit drugs, and arrest other members of
the suspected syndicate.
He added that the suspect will be arraigned in court
upon the completion of investigations.
