Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have
rescued four abducted children and reunited them with their families following
an intelligence-led operation.
The Command’s spokesperson, Rahman Nansel, disclosed
this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lafia.
According to Nansel, the rescue followed a report
received on December 31, 2025, at the New Nyanya Police Division in Karu Local
Government Area, concerning the suspicious disappearance of the children.
He said the command immediately launched a discreet
and comprehensive investigation after receiving the report.
Detectives, working in collaboration with operatives
of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, acted on credible
intelligence that led them to the suspects’ hideout, where the children were
rescued unharmed.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the children
were allegedly abducted by one Abraham Asoje, 28, in conspiracy with one Joy
Bolaje, 29, both residents of Ado Junction in Karu LGA,” Nansel stated.
He added that the suspects allegedly kept the children
in confinement before the timely intervention of the police.
The police spokesperson confirmed that the rescued
children have since been reunited with their families, while efforts are
ongoing to arrest other suspects believed to be at large.
Nansel also quoted the Commissioner of Police, Shetima
Mohammed, as commending the professionalism, dedication, and swift response of
the officers involved in the operation.
The commissioner reassured residents of the command’s
commitment to safeguarding lives and property, with particular emphasis on the
protection of children and other vulnerable persons across the state.
