The Presidency has debunked reports claiming
that a member of the Aso Rock kitchen staff was arrested for attempting to
poison President Bola Tinubu.
The denial came from the President’s Special Adviser
on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday, March 1, in response to a
viral video circulating on social media. The video purported to show a security
breach at the presidential villa, alleging that a chef had been detained over a
poisoning plot.
Onanuga clarified:
“No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock
kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake
news being disseminated by this video.”
The viral footage narrated claims that a special
police squad had intervened following intelligence alerts about suspicious
activity in the presidential kitchen. It also suggested that a coordinated
investigation was launched to neutralise the threat.
The Presidency dismissed these allegations as fabricated,
urging the public to remain calm and not to spread misinformation.
This statement reinforces that security at Aso Rock
remains uncompromised and that the circulating reports have no factual
basis.
