Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the UEFA
Champions League final after defeating FC Bayern Munich in a thrilling
semi-final clash at the Allianz Arena.
The French champions struck early through Ousmane
Dembele, who scored less than three minutes into the match to hand PSG the lead
on the night and extend their aggregate advantage.
Managed by Luis Enrique, PSG once again showed their
strength in Europe, largely keeping Bayern’s attack quiet despite late pressure
from the German side.
The visitors controlled key moments of the game and
looked dangerous on the counterattack throughout the encounter. Bayern pushed
hard in the closing stages, with Harry Kane scoring in stoppage time for a
seventh consecutive Champions League game, but it was not enough to prevent
elimination.
PSG’s victory means they return to the Champions
League final for a second straight season and will now face Arsenal F.C. in
Budapest on May 30.
The Paris club are aiming to become the first team
since Real Madrid CF to successfully defend the Champions League title.
The breakthrough came after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
burst down the left flank before cutting the ball back perfectly for Dembele to
fire home.
Despite dominating possession for long periods, Bayern
struggled to create clear chances. Jamal Musiala and Kane both came close,
while goalkeeper Matvey Safonov produced key saves to preserve PSG’s advantage.
Manuel Neuer also kept Bayern alive with important
stops from Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue in the second half.
However, PSG’s disciplined defending and clinical
counterattacking ultimately proved decisive as they moved one step closer to
another European crown.
