The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a
retired school vice principal, Alhaji Abdullahi Kasim Ayodele, for
allegedly killing his 54-year-old neighbour, Mrs. Caroline Agoi,
following a dispute over a nylon bag.
The incident occurred in Owo Local Government Area,
along Uselu–Isuada Road, near a transformer in the community. Reports
indicate that the bag had blown into Ayodele’s compound, sparking a heated
argument across their fence.
Eyewitnesses said the confrontation escalated when
Ayodele and his son left their compound and allegedly stormed Mrs. Agoi’s
residence. The suspect reportedly picked up a bench and, with the assistance of
his son, struck the woman, causing her to collapse. Foam was seen coming from
her mouth, and she was later confirmed dead.
A source explained that Mrs. Agoi had been on the
phone with her husband, who works as a driver to the Olori of the Olowo of
Owo, during the altercation. The husband fainted upon returning home and
learning of the incident and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC),
Owo for medical attention.
The deceased’s body has been deposited in a mortuary,
while residents expressed shock and outrage over the attack.
DSP Jimoh Abayomi,
Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and said
investigations are ongoing.
This tragic event highlights the dangers of unresolved
disputes escalating into fatal violence.
