Global streaming giant Spotify has announced a price
increase for its Premium Individual subscription, rising from €10.99 to
€11.99 ($13.86) per month, effective September 2025. This change
affects users across Africa, South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Latin
America, and Asia-Pacific.
The move aims to boost profitability, as the
company tackles rising costs and strives for better margins. Spotify will
notify affected users by email ahead of the change.
Investors welcomed the decision, pushing Spotify’s
stock up 3% in premarket trading. The company is also cracking down on artificial
streaming (fake plays from bots and click farms), warning that earnings
will be withheld and penalties applied for detected manipulation.
Spotify says
the crackdown and pricing changes are part of broader efforts to protect real
artists and ensure fair revenue distribution.
