The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Olohundare Jimoh, says street urchins have been reduced to the barest minimum across Lagos State, following sustained security operations by the police.

“The one million boys and street urchins—we have eradicated them to the barest in Lagos,” the commissioner said.
“We have been able to police Lagos to the extent that nobody can commit any major crime on the streets.”

He attributed the development to intensified policing efforts, stressing that the command is not relenting in its duty.

“We are not resting. We want to ensure that everywhere is safe,” he added.

Jimoh also revealed that incidents of traffic-related robberies have significantly declined, noting that no serious case had been reported across the state in the last three to four days.

“Even the issue of traffic robbery has gone to the lowest level. As of the last three to four days, there has been no serious incident reported throughout Lagos State,” he said.

The commissioner further disclosed that no security breaches were recorded during major public events, including Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Eyo festival, and various concerts attended by thousands of people.

“That shows that all our crime prevention and control strategies, as well as other proactive measures, are working effectively across Lagos,” Jimoh said.

He explained that the Inspector General of Police and the Ministry of Police Affairs provide fuel for patrol vehicles, with additional support from the Lagos State Government.

“It is unheard of that someone will request police assistance and be asked to provide fuel,” he said.

Jimoh urged residents to promptly report criminal activities to the appropriate authorities.

“They should report to the most senior officer in that department, which is the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), or the Area Commander,” he said.

He also provided two contact numbers—08032569029 and 07019852222—for Lagos residents to report complaints and security concerns.
