Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has announced a
23-man squad for Nigeria’s upcoming international friendlies against Iran and
Jordan.
Notably, Chelle omitted striker Victor Osimhen and
first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali from the squad, but recalled key
players such as Maduka Okoye, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, Frank Onyeka, Moses Simon,
Samuel Chukwueze, Akor Adams, and Paul Onuachu.
The squad also includes first-time call-ups for
Scotland-based defender Emmanuel Fernandez, Germany-based forward Philip Otele,
and Yira Collins Sor of KRC Genk. Goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye returns to the
national team after previous absences.
The Super Eagles will face Iran on March 27 in
Antalya, Turkey, at 4:00 pm local time, before taking on Jordan on March 31 at
8:00 pm local time. Both matches were relocated from Amman, Jordan, due to
ongoing military tensions in the Middle East.
