A suspected motorcycle thief, identified as Haruna
Yahuza, popularly known as “Gwaska,” has reportedly been lynched by a mob along
the Dafara-Gaube road in Kuje Area Council.
According to a resident, Solomon Markus, the incident
occurred on Monday evening around 8:12 p.m. after the suspect allegedly stole a
motorcycle near the Dafara community and attempted to flee.
Markus said Yahuza, alongside an accomplice who is
currently on the run, allegedly blocked a cyclist on the road and stabbed him
before making away with the motorcycle.
The attack drew the attention of residents, and the
injured victim, despite his condition, was able to identify the suspect. Local
youths were alerted and immediately pursued the fleeing suspects.
During the chase, the suspects were intercepted near
Dafara village. While the accomplice reportedly escaped into nearby bushes, the
mob apprehended Yahuza and attacked him with blunt objects, leading to his
death.
The injured cyclist was rushed to a hospital in Kuje
for medical treatment, while the stolen motorcycle has been recovered.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about mob
justice and security challenges in parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
