Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has signed an
Executive Order mandating the immediate payment of all outstanding pensions,
gratuities, and related entitlements to verified pensioners across the state.
The directive was disclosed in a statement issued by
the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yusuf Sanda, who said the order
underscores the Governor’s commitment to restoring dignity and financial
stability to retirees who dedicated their lives to public service.
Governor Kefas emphasized that retired workers deserve
honour and prompt attention after years of service.
“Taraba State must honour those who dedicated their
lives to public service. Their dignity is non-negotiable, and attending to
their welfare is our moral duty,” he said.
Special Outreach Team to Track
Incapacitated Pensioners
As part of the new directive, a special outreach team
will be deployed across all local government areas, wards, and villages. The
team will identify pensioners who are alive but incapacitated, ensuring they
receive their benefits without stress or delay.
Weekly Compliance Reports Ordered
The Ministry of Finance has been directed to submit
weekly compliance reports directly to the Governor’s office. Kefas warned that
no administrative bottlenecks or delays will be tolerated throughout the
payment process.
The government also appealed for calm among
pensioners, assuring them that the settlement of all pending entitlements has
been prioritised and is being handled with utmost urgency.
