Thousands of Arsenal supporters flooded the streets of
North London on Sunday as the club celebrated its long-awaited Premier League
title victory with a grand open-top bus parade.
Dressed in Arsenal’s iconic red-and-white colours,
jubilant fans lined the parade route, singing club chants, waving flags, and
setting off flares as they marked the Gunners’ first English league title in 22
years.
The atmosphere around the Emirates Stadium was
electric, with supporters climbing rooftops, trees, and traffic lights in a bid
to catch a glimpse of manager Mikel Arteta and the title-winning squad.
Arsenal officially secured the Premier League crown on
May 19 after second-placed Manchester City dropped points in a draw against
Bournemouth, ending the title race and confirming the North London club as
champions.
The celebrations, however, came just a day after
disappointment on the European stage. Arsenal missed out on a historic first
UEFA Champions League title following a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat
to Paris Saint-Germain in the final in Budapest.
The match ended 1-1 after extra time, with Kai Havertz
giving Arsenal an early lead before Ousmane Dembele equalised from the penalty
spot for PSG. The French champions eventually triumphed 4-3 in the shootout
after Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhaes failed to convert their penalties.
Despite the European setback, Arsenal fans turned out
in huge numbers to honour a remarkable domestic campaign that ended the club’s
two-decade wait for a league title.
The triumph follows three consecutive seasons in which
Arsenal finished as Premier League runners-up, making this season’s success
even more meaningful for players and supporters alike.
The victory parade began shortly after 2:00 p.m. local
time and covered a nine-kilometre route through Islington and surrounding areas
near the Emirates Stadium.
Four buses formed part of the procession, including
one carrying Arsenal Women, who also enjoyed a successful season after winning
the inaugural Women’s Champions Cup earlier in the year.
As players proudly displayed the Premier League trophy
to cheering crowds, the celebration served as a fitting tribute to one of the
most memorable seasons in Arsenal’s modern history, highlighting the club’s
return to the summit of English football under Arteta’s leadership.
