President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, July 9, held a
closed-door meeting with Nigeria's top security chiefs at the State House,
Abuja, as part of ongoing efforts to address the country's security challenges.
The meeting, which lasted for more than two hours,
focused on strategies to tackle rising insecurity across various parts of the
country.
Among those in attendance were the National Security
Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa
(retd.); the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; the Chief of Army
Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Isa; and the Chief of Defence Intelligence,
Lieutenant General Emmanuel Undiandeye.
Also present were the Director-General of the
Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi; the Director-General of the
National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed; the President's Special
Adviser on Homeland Security, Major General Adeyinka Famadewa (retd.); the
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunde Disu; as well as other senior
representatives of the nation's security agencies.
Although details of the discussions were not
immediately disclosed, the meeting forms part of the Tinubu administration's
ongoing consultations with security stakeholders aimed at strengthening the
country's response to terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security
threats.
