Senator Ned Nwoko has declared that the All
Progressives Congress (APC) does not need Delta State Governor Sheriff
Oborevwori to secure victory in the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the defection of members of the Delta
Unity Group (DUG) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC in the Ika
Federal Constituency, Nwoko urged Governor Oborevwori to remain in the PDP,
stating that his presence is not welcome in the APC.
“Oborevwori wants to join APC, but he should stay
where he is. He will be defeated. We do not want him in the APC,” Nwoko said.
According to the Delta North Senator, President Bola
Tinubu has personally assured him that the APC will take over Delta State in
2027. He suggested that this may be the reason behind Oborevwori’s alleged
plans to defect to the ruling party.
“The President told me himself—he’ll deliver Delta to
the APC. Maybe that’s why the governor is desperate,” Nwoko stated.
He criticized the PDP for mismanaging Delta State over
the past 25 years and expressed confidence that the APC would bring change.
“Delta will surely become an APC state in 2027. We’ve
had enough of 25 years of misrule. It’s time to take over,” he said.
Addressing the new defectors, Nwoko praised their move
and encouraged them to remain steadfast, assuring them that the next governor
of Delta would emerge from the APC.
“Don’t let anyone question your decision. The next
governor will come from among you—from the APC. As you return to your
communities, spread the word: the future of Delta lies with the APC,” he added.
