President Bola Tinubu has assured residents of Jos
that the recent wave of violence will not be allowed to happen again, promising
stronger action to restore peace and bring perpetrators to justice.
The President gave the assurance during a visit to
Jos, where he met with government officials, traditional leaders, and families
affected by the attacks.
Emotional Message to Victims
Addressing grieving families, Tinubu acknowledged that
no amount of financial support could replace the lives lost. He expressed deep
sympathy, particularly referencing a widely shared video of a mother mourning
her son.
He assured victims that the government would provide
support while emphasizing that true healing and comfort can only come from God.
Commitment to Restore Peace
Tinubu stressed that his administration was elected to
deliver peace and prosperity, not to preside over loss and insecurity.
He said his goal goes beyond offering condolences,
stating clearly that his mission is to restore Jos to its former reputation as
a peaceful and thriving city.
Directive to Security Agencies
The President commended the efforts of security forces
but urged them to intensify operations and ensure those responsible for the
killings are apprehended.
He called on the Armed Forces and law enforcement
agencies to take decisive action in tracking down and prosecuting those behind
the violence.
Plan to Deploy 5,000 Surveillance Cameras
As part of measures to improve security, Tinubu
announced plans to install about 5,000 surveillance cameras across the city.
The initiative, to be overseen by Bosun Tijani, is
expected to enhance real-time monitoring and help security agencies quickly
identify criminal activities.
Governor Calls Incident a Setback
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, described the
attack as a temporary setback, expressing optimism that the state will overcome
its security challenges.
He praised the efforts of security agencies, noting
that while breaches are often visible, many threats are successfully prevented
without public awareness.
Hope for Stability
Both federal and state authorities reaffirmed their
commitment to strengthening security operations and restoring stability in
Plateau State, with assurances that ongoing efforts will yield lasting peace.
