French Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille has reached an
agreement with Ajax Amsterdam to sign Nigerian forward Chuba Akpom on loan.
Akpom joined Ajax two years ago following a successful
stint with Middlesbrough in the English Championship, but he has struggled to
secure regular playing time at the Dutch club.
Several clubs, including Sunderland, have shown
interest in acquiring the Nigerian striker during this winter transfer window.
Reports from France confirm that Lille has successfully secured Akpom on loan
until the end of the season.
If the deal goes through, Akpom will become the fourth
Nigerian to represent Lille, following in the footsteps of Vincent Enyeama,
Osaze Odemwingie, and Victor Osimhen.
