Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended a
suspected collaborator linked to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and
JAS insurgents in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The arrest was carried out around 5:35 p.m. on March
27 by personnel of the 25 Brigade and 19 Battalion (Mobile), working alongside
members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.
According to military sources, the suspect, who hails
from Gwalki village in the Kafa area of Damboa, is a resident of the Hausari
Internally Displaced Persons camp in Maiduguri.
He is alleged to have been providing support to
insurgent groups operating within the Damboa axis.
During initial interrogation, the suspect reportedly
claimed to be a repentant fighter associated with a hybrid force. However,
further questioning revealed his involvement in supplying ammunition to
terrorist groups within the Timbuktu Triangle.
The source added that the suspect disclosed working
with an accomplice identified as Konto Fatima, who is believed to be residing
at the Aburi IDP camp.
The suspect is currently in military custody as
investigations continue to determine the full extent of his activities.
