Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North East,
Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have intercepted two pick-up vans conveying
logistics supplies suspected to be intended for Islamic State West Africa
Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.
The interception followed credible intelligence
that alerted the military to the movement of the supplies from Dapchi in
Yobe State towards the Magumeri general area of Borno State.
In a statement issued in Maiduguri, the Media
Information Officer of OPHK, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, said the operation
was carried out swiftly after troops, working in collaboration with the Civilian
Joint Task Force (CJTF), tactically deployed along the identified route and
successfully intercepted the vehicles.
According to the statement, a wide range of items
suspected to be logistics support for terrorists was recovered during the
operation. These include two civilian vehicles, 31 spare tyres, 23 spare
rims, two bicycles, 12 ignition key starters, three alternators, two bags of
flour, one mattress, five bags of charcoal, 34 tubers of yam, two blankets, two
nylons of garri, assorted adult and children’s clothing, one power bank, six
mobile phones, and cash in various denominations.
Lt. Col. Uba disclosed that the drivers of the
vehicles, along with the recovered items, are currently in military custody
and undergoing interrogation to determine their level of involvement and to aid
ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.
He reaffirmed that troops of Operation Hadin Kai
remain resolute in denying terrorists freedom of movement, disrupting their
supply chains, and ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens
across the North-East.
The latest operation underscores continued military
efforts to weaken insurgent networks by cutting off critical logistical support
within the region.
