Troops operating under Operation Safe Haven have
intervened to rescue a man suspected of kidnapping from being lynched by an
angry mob in Plateau State.
The incident took place in Gidan Mangoro village,
located in Shendam Local Government Area, where residents had reportedly
apprehended the suspect and were on the verge of carrying out mob justice
before security forces arrived.
According to reports, the troops from Sector 9
responded promptly to the situation, dispersing the crowd and preventing the
suspect from being killed. Their swift action helped restore order and avoid
further escalation.
The suspect has since been taken into custody, where
he will undergo further investigation over his alleged involvement in
kidnapping activities within the area.
Authorities have reiterated the importance of allowing
law enforcement agencies to handle criminal matters, warning against acts of
jungle justice that could undermine due process.
