In a recent report from Symfoni TV, Former Governor of
Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has expressed unwavering support
for the principle of power rotation in Nigeria’s leadership, reiterating his
stance from the 2023 presidential election.
In a recent statement, Wike reflected on the February
25th election, emphasizing his commitment to fairness, equity, and justice.
He said, “I remain unchallenged by the last election.
I owe nobody any apologies at all. One of the apostles of power rotation, I
argued that the South must have its turn after the North had ruled for eight
years.”
Wike, who had been a vocal advocate for the Southern
presidency, maintained that his position was driven by a desire for equity,
fairness, and justice within the Nigerian political system. “Whether you voted
for Labour or any other party, I have no problem with you. This is about the
principle we all agreed upon,” he added.
Wike further clarified that his support for a Southern
presidency was rooted in the broader struggle for balance and inclusion in
Nigeria’s leadership. “I am not here to persecute anyone. My position is clear:
the South must emerge as the next president of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria,” he asserted.
