Galatasaray are once again the champions of Türkiye’s
Süper Lig after Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen’s first half goal led the
champions to a 3-0 victory over Kayserispor on Sunday.
It was a celebratory atmosphere at the Rams Park in
Istanbul where the hosts left little doubt about the outcome. Osimhen opened
the scoring in the 26th minute with a perfectly placed header from Gabriel
Sara’s corner kick delivery, followed soon after by a goal from Bar?? Alper
Y?lmaz to double the advantage before a half hour was gone.
While visitors Kayserispor looked capable of perhaps
crashing the party in the first half, all resistance was gone after halftime.
Galatasaray dominated the second half and even goalkeeper Fernando Muslera got
in on the goal scoring, converting a late penalty kick to further add to the
party.
Galatasaray have now won three consecutive Süper Lig
titles and confirmed a domestic double this season after winning the Turkish
Cup on May 14. Osimhen is well on his way to Golden Boot honors in the league
with 25 goals in 29 league games this season.
The striker on loan from Napoli has 36 goals in all
competitions, a career high.
