In a candid interview on TVC TV FROM 15:04, Samuel
Nwanosike, the chairman of Ikwerre Local
Government Area in Rivers State, expressed strong support for President Bola
Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and his potential to guide Nigeria through its
current challenges.
Nwanosike, speaking on behalf of the People’s
Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, revealed that their decision to back
Tinubu in the 2023 election was based on a thorough evaluation of all
candidates. He stated, “We in PDP in Rivers State, led by our leader, Nyesom
Wike, saw all the candidates that made themselves available in 2023 election
and we knew that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the one that has the magic to
bring us out of the dungeon that we have gone to, caused by other
administration.”
This statement sheds light on the cross-party
support that Tinubu received during the election, particularly from the PDP
faction led by Nyesom Wike in Rivers State. It suggests a level of political pragmatism that transcended traditional party
lines in the interest of national development.
Nwanosike’s confidence in Tinubu’s leadership
appears to be reinforced by recent economic indicators. He asserted, “And
today, he has been vindicated. Because international communities are now coming
into Nigeria with investments.” This claim points to a perceived uptick in
foreign investment as a validation of Tinubu’s economic policies and leadership
approach.
The chairman’s use of the phrase “magic to
bring us out of the dungeon” is particularly noteworthy. It paints a vivid
picture of the challenges facing Nigeria while simultaneously expressing faith
in Tinubu’s ability to overcome these obstacles. The metaphor suggests that
Nwanosike and his associates view Tinubu as possessing unique skills or
strategies to address Nigeria’s complex issues.
Nwanosike’s comments also indirectly critique
previous administrations, as evidenced by his reference to the “dungeon that we have gone to, caused by other administration.” This statement implies that
the current challenges facing Nigeria are, in part, a legacy of past leadership
failures.
The interview highlights the complex political
landscape in Nigeria, where regional and party allegiances can shift based on
perceptions of a leader’s capability. It also underscores the high expectations
placed on President Tinubu’s administration to deliver tangible improvements in
Nigeria’s economic and social conditions.
