The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees
(BoT), backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike,
is currently holding a crucial meeting in Abuja aimed at stabilising the party
and restoring confidence among its members.
In his opening remarks, BoT Chairman Senator Mao
Ohuabunwa reaffirmed the board’s commitment to repositioning the PDP,
stressing that the immediate priority is to conduct congresses in states where
they have not been held.
Ohuabunwa informed members that the national
leadership is prepared to work closely with all state chapters to rebuild
structures, strengthen unity, and put the party back on a solid footing.
He highlighted the PDP’s strategic roadmap, which
includes the completion of overdue state congresses, consolidation of recent
progress, and coordinated efforts to support the national organs of the party.
According to him, these steps are vital to restoring
internal cohesion, enhancing transparency, and bolstering grassroots
participation.
By holding timely congresses and enforcing greater
organisational discipline, the PDP hopes to reconnect with its base, rebuild
trust across all levels, and present a more credible, united front ahead of
future elections.
