A fresh wave of political tension has emerged in
Rivers State following allegations by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike against his
predecessor, Chibuike Amaechi.
Wike had claimed Amaechi deliberately orchestrated
unrest in the state while serving as Minister of Transportation, a statement
that has since triggered swift backlash.
Reacting on Tuesday, APC chieftain Chief Eze
Chukwuemeka Eze dismissed Wike’s claims as baseless and accused the minister of
distorting facts to serve personal interests.
Eze, known for his close association with Amaechi,
questioned Wike’s moral standing to cast aspersions on the former governor’s
record.
He described the FCT Minister as someone who thrives
on manipulation and crisis.
In a scathing attack, he alleged that Wike, not
Amaechi, was the architect of violence during his own administration in Rivers,
often employing unregulated forces to push political agendas.
Eze further accused Wike of lacking the integrity to
criticize others, especially given the controversial events that marred the
2015 general elections in the state.
According to him, Wike used security operatives and
non-state actors to intimidate political opponents and suppress dissent.
“The records of how he used Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu, the
infamous Rivers Police Commissioner whom he later deserted and left to rot in
his foolishness, to cause havoc in Rivers State and make the environment
ungovernable are there already placed before the world,” Eze stated.
