As the world marks World Teachers’ Day 2025, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has paid glowing tribute to teachers across the nation, describing them as “true heroes, shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations.”

In a statement released on Saturday, October 5, 2025, to commemorate the annual celebration, the First Lady lauded the dedication, resilience, and impact of educators in nation-building and human development.

Tinubu: Teachers Are the Pillars of Society

Senator Tinubu, who described herself as a lifelong teacher, said she holds deep respect for the profession and for those who devote their lives to educating others.

“Teachers are true heroes — shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations,” she said.
“As a lifelong teacher myself, I salute you all on this special day.”

The First Lady emphasized that teachers play an indispensable role in shaping the future, noting that their influence extends beyond classrooms to the very foundation of national progress and global advancement.

Global Call to Address Teacher Shortage

Speaking on this year’s theme, “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage,” Mrs. Tinubu said the occasion is a timely reminder of the urgent need to address the dwindling number of educators worldwide.

She called for greater investment in teacher training, welfare, and professional development, adding that society must empower educators and inspire more people to join the noble profession.

“The shortage of teachers is a challenge we must confront with urgency — by empowering educators, investing in their growth, and inspiring more to join this noble profession,” she stated.

Celebrating the Educators Who Shape the Future

Senator Tinubu reaffirmed her administration’s support for initiatives that promote quality education and teacher empowerment. She urged Nigerians to honour and appreciate teachers, not only on World Teachers’ Day but every day, for their tireless service and lasting impact.

“On this World Teachers’ Day 2025, we celebrate the men and women who light the path to knowledge for generations to come,” the First Lady said.

She concluded her message with warm wishes:

“Happy World Teachers’ Day 2025.”
