Drake’s father, Dennis Graham, has reassured fans that
he is no longer battling cancer after the rapper referenced his health in a
newly released song.
Concern spread among listeners after Drake mentioned
his father’s cancer battle on the track *Make Them Cry*, which appears on his
newly released album *Iceman*.
On the song, Drake raps: “My dad got cancer right now,
we battlin' stages / Trust me when I say there's plenty things that I'd rather
be facin'.”
The lyrics led many fans to believe that Dennis Graham
was currently undergoing cancer treatment.
However, speaking to photographers outside Bar Jubilee
in West Hollywood, Graham clarified that he battled lung cancer years ago and
has since recovered.
According to him, doctors recently confirmed that the
cancer had completely cleared from his body, which he described as a miracle.
Graham also said he is doing well and has made major
changes to his lifestyle, including significantly reducing his smoking.
He thanked fans for their concern and support after
the emotional lyrics sparked reactions online.
*Iceman* was one of three projects Drake released on
Friday, along with *Maid of Honour* and *Habibti*. The releases mark Drake’s
first studio albums since *For All the Dogs* in 2023.
While Drake’s lyrics suggested a current health
battle, Graham’s clarification indicates the line may have referred to an
earlier period in his cancer journey.
