A former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo,
has officially resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing
shifts in the political landscape as the reason for his decision.
In a resignation letter dated May 1, 2026, and
addressed to the party chairman in Gwarzo Local Government Area, Gwarzo
announced that his exit takes immediate effect. He explained that the move came
after extensive consultations with associates, supporters, and stakeholders
across the state.
According to him, recent political developments made
it necessary to reconsider his position within the party. He noted that the
evolving political climate prompted a reassessment of his involvement, with a
focus on what he described as the best interests of the people and the future
of both the state and the nation.
Gwarzo emphasized that his decision was driven by a
commitment to good governance and national progress. He stated that his next
political direction would align with his vision for democratic values,
effective leadership, and sustainable development.
He also expressed appreciation to the party’s
leadership and members for their support and cooperation during his time with
the ADC.
While he did not reveal his next move, political
observers suggest his resignation may be linked to ongoing realignments ahead
of the 2027 general elections.
