The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has apprehended two individuals in connection with separate cases involving the alleged sexual abuse of minors in Akure.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, by the command’s spokesperson, SC Daniel Aidamenbor.

According to the report, a 22-year-old farmer, identified as Emeka Chidi Innocent, is accused of assaulting a 13-year-old girl on March 3 in the Igbatoro area. After the incident, he reportedly fled but was later tracked down and arrested in Idanre following intelligence-led operations.

In a separate case, a 38-year-old tiler, Ayodele John, was arrested for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl at her parents’ residence along Oda Road in Akure. Authorities said he was taken into custody within 24 hours of the incident being reported.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both suspects were familiar to the victims and their families prior to the alleged offences, raising concerns about trust and access within domestic environments.

The NSCDC confirmed that both individuals have made statements regarding the allegations and are currently undergoing further investigation. The command added that they will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the process.

Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye urged parents and guardians to be more vigilant in protecting children, emphasizing the importance of proper supervision and background checks on individuals granted access to homes.

Reaffirming its stance, the NSCDC stated that it remains committed to tackling sexual and gender-based violence and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice. The agency also encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious activity to the nearest security office.
