Lagos has been selected to host the 2026 CAF Awards,
with the prestigious ceremony scheduled for December 7.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed
that the event will take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and
Creative Arts in Iganmu, formerly known as the National Theatre.
The ceremony is expected to attract some of the
biggest names in African football, including leading players, coaches,
administrators and other prominent figures from across the continent.
The 2026 edition will mark the fourth time Lagos has
hosted the CAF Awards. The Nigerian city previously staged the ceremony in
2008, 2013 and 2014.
Nigeria most recently hosted the awards in 2017,
continuing the country's long association with the continent's annual football
honours.
The current CAF African Player of the Year award
holders are Morocco's Achraf Hakimi in the men's category and Ghizlane Chebbak
in the women's category.
The return of the CAF Awards to Lagos is expected to
place Nigeria at the centre of African football celebrations as the continent's
top performers are recognised for their achievements.
