NAF Begins Rescue Operation After Aircraft Crash in Ondo

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that an ATR-42 aircraft belonging to the service crashed in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State on October 5, 2026.

According to the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame, the aircraft was carrying out a routine mission when the incident occurred.

The aircraft was reportedly travelling from Benin, Edo State, to Lagos when it crashed in the Igbokoda area.

Following the incident, the Nigerian Air Force activated a Search and Rescue operation in collaboration with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies.

In a statement, the NAF said its rescue teams were working to respond to the crash and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Air Force said further information would be released as the rescue operation progresses.

However, the NAF did not immediately disclose the number of people who were on board the aircraft or whether there were any casualties.

Authorities are expected to provide additional details as search and rescue efforts continue.
