Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed strong confidence in securing a second term, declaring that the 2027 general election will be easier for him than the 2023 polls.

Speaking at the 2025 Aro Day celebration held in Arochukwu Local Government Area, Otti said his administration’s performance since assuming office has positioned him for a smoother re-election campaign.

According to the governor, unlike in 2023 when he campaigned largely on promises, his government can now point to tangible achievements visible to the people of Abia State.

“Just like it happened in 2023, 2027 will be even smoother. I am confident because in 2023 we were selling promises, but now there are concrete things we can point to,” Otti said.

He noted that while some politicians are already anxious about the 2027 elections, his administration remains focused on governance and service delivery rather than political calculations.

“2027 is still far away, yet many people have started putting themselves under unnecessary pressure. We are not worried because we have a four-year mandate to deliver to our people. We have completed 30 months and still have a lot more to do,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, praised Governor Otti’s leadership, stating that the transformation of Abia State over the past two years has attracted attention beyond Nigeria’s borders.

“I congratulate Dr. Otti for the work he has done in Abia. Those living here can see it clearly, but it may interest you to know that even outside Abia and Nigeria, people have taken note of the remarkable transformation,” Sanusi said.

The former Central Bank governor further expressed pride in serving on Otti’s International Economic Advisory Council and prayed for the governor’s continued success in delivering good governance to the people of Abia State.
