24 Teams Confirmed for FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifiers

Berlin, Germany – August 6, 2025 — The road to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 is taking shape as 24 national teams have secured their spots in the high-stakes qualifying tournaments set for March 2026.

These qualifying events will determine the final 11 berths for the prestigious global tournament, which will be hosted in Berlin, Germany. A total of 16 teams will eventually compete in the World Cup.

Automatic Qualifiers

Five nations have already secured automatic qualification to the tournament:

  • Germany – Host nation
  • Nigeria – Winners of AfroBasket 2025
  • USA – Winners of AmeriCup 2025
  • Australia – Winners of Asia Cup 2025
  • Belgium – Winners of EuroBasket 2025

Despite having secured direct entry, these five teams will still participate in the qualifiers, although their results will not affect the distribution of the remaining 11 qualification slots.

Asia & Oceania (Asia Cup 2025)

  • Australia (Champions – qualified automatically)
  • China
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • New Zealand
  • Philippines

Europe (EuroBasket 2025)

  • Belgium (Champions – qualified automatically)
  • France
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • Türkiye
  • Czechia (via pre-qualifiers)
  • Hungary (via pre-qualifiers)

Czechia and Hungary booked their places through the Pre-Qualifying Tournaments held in Kigali, Rwanda, and Mexico City, Mexico in 2024.

Road to Berlin

The upcoming qualifiers in March 2026 will be the final hurdle before the FIBA Women’s World Cup tips off in Berlin later that year. With 16 total slots in the main tournament, and five already filled, the remaining 11 tickets are up for grabs.

Basketball fans can expect fierce competition as teams battle for World Cup glory. FIBA is expected to unveil the draw and host cities for the qualifiers in the coming months.
