A Compliance Officer with Access Bank Plc, who has been with the bank since May 2023, testified on Wednesday regarding withdrawals from the Kogi State Government House Administration Account.

The witness confirmed that Aminu Jimoh Olanrewaju, previously identified as making withdrawals from the account, was one of its signatories. He added that Olanrewaju was a civil servant and Director of Accounts in the Kogi State Government Administration.

Under cross-examination, the banker said he was not privy to the internal workings of the government account and could only testify to the transactions reflected in the bank’s records. He clarified that former governor Yahaya Bello was neither a local government chairman nor linked to any of the transactions presented in court.

The witness provided details of several withdrawals and their intended purposes, citing examples such as:

  • N10.6 million from Ibaji Local Government statutory revenue for agrochemicals.
  • N7.3 million from Mopa Muro Local Government for relief materials.
  • N9.9 million from Ofu Local Government for agrochemical procurement.

During the Examination-in-Chief, the court admitted statements of account for the Kogi Government House Administration from January 2016 to January 2024, along with statements from 11 companies, including Westwood Motors Limited, Fozad Oil and Gas Limited, Bespoque Global Concept Limited, E-Traders International Limited, and Keyless Nature Limited. The documents were marked Exhibits AH1, AH2, and AG to AR.

The witness confirmed multiple cash withdrawals, including N10 million each by Aminu Olanrewaju between 15th and 16th January 2018 and by Abdulsalami Hudu on 8th March. He said that the bank filed a Suspicious Transaction Report with the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) as required by standard procedure.

During cross-examination, he reiterated that all transactions complied with Central Bank of Nigeria guidelines and did not violate any law.

Justice Maryann Anenih adjourned the case to 10th, 11th, and 12th March 2026 for the continuation of the cross-examination of the witness.
