Ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Tunisia
Football Federation (FTF) has named former Tunisian national team forward Ziad
Jaziri as the technical director of the Carthage Eagles, BSNSports.com.ng
reports.
FTF President Moez Nasri expressed confidence that
Jaziri's appointment would strengthen Tunisia's performance in both continental
and international competitions.
The 46-year-old ex-Etoile du Sahel striker is renowned
for his key role in helping Tunisia secure the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations title
on home soil.
Jaziri's first task will be to identify a suitable
candidate to lead Tunisia’s squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
in March, as well as the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
In recent weeks, several names have been considered
for the coaching role, including Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, who was in
talks to take over but saw negotiations fall through.
Tunisia, the 2004 AFCON champions, are drawn in the
same group as Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda for the upcoming tournament.
