Airtel Africa Grants ?1 Billion to FG for 3MTT Program, Aiming to Train 25,000 Nigerians in Digital Skills

The Federal Government of Nigeria has received a ?1 billion grant from Airtel Africa Foundation to support the 3 Million Technical Talents (3MTT) programme, an initiative aimed at equipping young Nigerians with essential digital and technological skills.

Key Highlights:

  • Training 25,000 Youths: The grant will facilitate the training of 25,000 Nigerian youths across 80 local government areas, enhancing their competencies in various digital domains.
  • Airtel Africa Fellowship: In addition to the grant, Airtel Africa has announced 10 scholarships for Nigerian students to pursue technology-focused courses at Plaksha University in India. This initiative aims to develop cutting-edge skills and bridge the talent gap in Nigeria's tech sector.

These commitments were unveiled during a meeting between Airtel Africa's Chairman, Sunil Bharti Mittal, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja. Discussions centered on Airtel Africa's ongoing investments in Nigeria's telecommunications and digital economy sectors.

Mr. Mittal emphasized Airtel Africa's dedication to supporting Nigeria's digital transformation agenda, stating, "Through initiatives like the Airtel Africa Fellowship and our investment in 3MTT, we are ensuring that young Nigerians have access to world-class education and digital skills."

This collaboration underscores a significant step towards empowering Nigerian youth with the skills necessary to thrive in the global digital economy, aligning with the government's vision of fostering technological advancement and innovation within the country.
