Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has congratulated
Monday Okpebholo on the Supreme
Court’s verdict upholding his election as the Executive Governor of
Edo State.
Governor Aliyu in a statement on Friday, described the
judgment as a victory not just for the people of Edo State, but also a
testament to Nigeria’s adherence to democratic principles.
Aliyu commended the Nigerian judiciary for its
independence and commitment to upholding justice, noting that the dismissal of
Ighodalo’s appeal for lacking merit was a clear demonstration of this.
He stated, “This is a victory for the entire APC
family and for all well-meaning Nigerians.”
The Sokoto Governor wished Okpebholo a successful and
rewarding tenure, urging him to remain focused on delivering dividends of
democracy to all corners of Edo State.
He added, “On behalf of the good people of Sokoto
State, I congratulate my colleague and brother, Governor Monday Okpebholo, on
this well-deserved victory.”
