The Nigerian Army has issued an official clarification
regarding the detention of Corporal Amina Sani Maidoki, who is currently under
investigation over allegations of theft and conduct inconsistent with military
values.
In a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia
Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the Army acknowledged the
public and media concerns but emphasized that the detention follows lawful
procedures under the Armed Forces Act and internal military regulations.
The statement stressed that the disciplinary process
is not arbitrary, and Corporal Maidoki’s legal and human rights are being fully
respected during the investigation. The Nigerian Army also denied allegations
of unlawful detention or denial of legal representation, labeling such claims
as false and misleading.
Lieutenant Colonel Anele appealed to the public to
refrain from speculative commentary, assuring that updates will be provided at
the appropriate time. The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to due
process, transparency, and accountability, while underscoring that no
individual is above military law.
