FC Barcelona Femení have secured the league title with
four matches still remaining in the season, continuing their dominance in
Spanish women’s football.
Teenage Norwegian forward Martine Fenger led the
charge with a brace, while Caroline Graham Hansen and Carla Julia also got on
the scoresheet as Barcelona sealed the championship in style.
The victory marks Barcelona’s 11th league title
overall and crowns another impressive campaign in which they have won 25 of
their 26 league matches. Their only setback came in a defeat to Real Sociedad
in November.
Despite having a game in hand, Real Madrid Femenino
remain 16 points behind in second place, leaving the title race mathematically
over.
Barcelona are still in contention for a historic
treble. They are set to face Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the UEFA
Women's Champions League and have also reached the final of the Copa de la
Reina, where they will meet Atlético Madrid on May 16.
The triumph further reinforces Barcelona’s status as
one of the most dominant forces in women’s football across Europe.
