Paris Saint-Germain returned to winning ways with a
commanding performance, led by Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, as they
eased past FC Nantes in Ligue 1 action.
Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring from the penalty spot
in the 13th minute before Désiré Doué doubled PSG’s lead, leaving Nantes under
increasing pressure in their fight to avoid relegation.
The Georgian forward struck again early in the second
half, sealing a dominant display from the Paris side, who bounced back strongly
after their weekend defeat to Lyon, a result that briefly reignited interest in
the title race.
PSG coach Luis Enrique praised his team’s response,
describing the performance as “almost perfect” and highlighting Kvaratskhelia’s
consistency and mentality throughout the season. He noted that the winger has
maintained top-level quality regardless of the opposition or match situation.
The Spanish manager also made several changes to his
lineup following the Lyon defeat, reinstating key players including
Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé, João Neves, and Warren Zaïre-Emery.
PSG remain on track to secure a record-extending 12th
Ligue 1 title in 14 years but still have key fixtures ahead, including an away
match against Lens and a UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against
Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Nantes continue to struggle, now winless in
seven matches. The club were also without coach Vahid Halilhodži?, who is
serving a suspension following disciplinary issues.
They currently sit in the relegation zone, second from
bottom, and are five points adrift of the relegation play-off spot with only a
few games remaining in the season.
